SERTÃO

dining table

LIMITED EDITION

Tiago Curioni x Raphael Pangilinan

description

Inspired by the lightness and subtlety of the iconic sculptures' shapes of the artist Raphael Pangilinan, Sertão dining table was realized with a focus on the free and loose design of the arid and cracked Brazilian soil of Sertão.
The light structure in polished stainless steel supports the large marble tops, which seem to float freely and independently, since they can be grouped in different ways, for a refined and resolutely contemporary impact.

RAPHAEL PANGILINAN

Raphael Pangilinan is a Filipino-born French artist. His extensive background in architecture, design, and interior finishing gives the artist the ability to integrate unique concepts into his work. Raphael’s work delves into conceptualizing and producing original pieces by incorporating the use of indigenous and modern materials, with other natural resources. His current series, DISTORTED, was conceived during the artist’s darkest moments. Characterized by flawed and distorted shapes, each piece serves as a visual to his aphotic reflection. Raphael's artworks take a momentary step back from the normal perfect shapes, to draw out visual and eclectic emotional responses through varying levels of illumination.

Perhaps nothing is as significant to Brazil's national identity as Sertão.
The dry forests of the hilly uplands support carnauba and babassu palms and such plants as the cactus, the rock rose, and the rhododendron.
This semi-arid landscape, largely covered with caatingas, evokes images of resilience and hope.
